The Lenten Intergenerational Journey:  The Lenten Intergenerational Journey is designed so there is something for everybody as we prepare for Easter on Sundays, February 18- March 18 from 6:00 until 7:30 PM.  Please mark your calendars.   Evening Prayer and a period of silence will be offered in the Nave starting at 5:00 PM.  Parish Life will be organizing sign-ups for dinner.  The adults will spend their time with an in-depth look at The Gospel of John.  Videos, reflections, and group exercises will allow for a deeper understanding and appreciation of the youngest, most poetic and complex of the gospels.  The youth will have a wide variety of activities to explore the meaning and purpose of Lent.

Luke-Acts Bible Study:   The Presiding Bishop has asked all parishes to undertake a study of The Gospel of Luke and The Acts of the Apostles during Lent and Easter.  St. John’s will do so on Wednesdays from 6- 7:00 PM, February 21 – May 9.  We will not meet on March 28.  A schedule of readings will be published in the February edition of The Signs.  Please, pack a sandwich and bring your bibles and join with thousands of Episcopalians who are taking time to dive into Scripture during the Lenten and Easter Seasons.

WomanKind 2018:  St. James Episcopal Church is hosting an engaging two-day women’s program scheduled February 23-24.  If you are interested in learning more or to register, please visit www.doers.org/womankind-2018/.  Let Doris Custer know you are going and we’ll try to carpool and have St. John’s ladies sit together.  Contact Doris at CusterDD@gmail.com.  Space is limited.

Outreach:  Please save your pull tabs for donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities  (RMHC) Pop Top Recycling Program!  There is a collection box in the vestibule.  With your help, recycled pop tops earned RMHC $5000 last year. 

Box Tops for Education:  As an ongoing effort, St. John's will be collecting Box Tops for Education to benefit our community school partner, Beulah Elementary School.  Box tops can be found on 100's of General Mill products.  Just cut them out and bring them to church.  You will find a collection box in the Parish Hall near the Book Depository.

Youth Christian Formation:  our evening youth programs ( 3 yrs old through young-at-heart) takes place in the parish hall. We will meet the first and third Sunday of each month. Dinner at 6 PM, Formation at 6:25 PM, and Music Fellowship at 7:15 PM. Bible 101: as youth participate in Christian Formation, adults are encouraged to gather in the library for Bible 101.  Participants are asked to bring their Bibles, questions, and an open mind.

Christian Adult Formation: Centering Prayer:  The Centering Prayer group meets Sundays from 3:30 - 4:30 PM in the Library. Centering Prayer is a popular method of contemplative prayer placing emphasis on interior silence and cultivating an awareness of being in God's presence.

Daughters of the King:  the St. Veronica's Chapter of the Order of the Daughters of the King meets the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM in the library to discuss a book the group is reading. Let Nancy Fast or Becky Farr know if you have questions or would like to join the group.

The Gathering Place:  join middle and high school youth at 1:45 PM in the church parking lot the 4th Sunday of each month on to travel to the Gathering Place for worship and fellowship.  We will return by 4 PM.

Beulah Elementary:  Outreach provides breakfast for the teachers and staff on the second Friday of each month, September through May.  If you would like to provide a baked item, or attend, please contact Carolyn Irving or Llewellyn Slayton.  You can leave your baked items in the kitchen (marked for Beulah) on Thursday evening or Friday morning before 8 AM, and Carolyn will pick up.

Kroger Community Rewards Program:  Please refer to this number when signing up:  NPO number 85539. Sign up online  at krogercommnunityrewards.com.  Be sure to have your Kroger Plus card handy and register your card with your organization after sign up. If you do not yet have a Kroger Plus card, they are available at the customer service desk at any Kroger.  Click on Sign In/Register.  Most participants are new online customers, so they must click on SIGN UP TODAY in the New Customer box. Sign up for a Kroger Rewards Account by entering zip code, clicking on favorite store, entering your email address and creating a password, agreeing to the terms and conditions. You will then get a message to check your email inbox and click on the link within the body of the email.  Click on My Account and use your email address and password to proceed to the next step. Click on Edit Kroger Community Rewards information and input your Kroger Plus card number. Update or confirm your information. Enter NPO number or name of organization, select organization from list and click on confirm. To verify you are enrolled correctly, you will see your organization’s name on the right side of your information page.

Used Book Sale:  Gently-used books are in need of a home in the parish hall. 

Men's Bible Study:  Group meets the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month at 8 AM in the parish hall for breakfast and lively discussion.  All men of the church are invited to attend.  If you would like to be on the email list or wish to have more information, contact Guy Smith at 748-6216 or cguygo@verizon.net.

Bingo Prizes Needed :  We are in need of prizes to give out to our friends at Lucy Corr during games of Bingo. Appropriate prizes include sugar-free cookies (no hard candy), socks, lap blankets, large print books, puzzles, or word-search books, boxes of tissues, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, small stuffed animals.If you can provide any of these prizes, please bring them to the church office. 

Birthday Box:   The Birthday Box is probably Outreach’s oldest project first started over 20 years ago. It is in the back of the nave waiting for kind people to feed it in celebration of a birthday or other special occasion.  Each quarter, Outreach selects an animal gift from Heifer International to purchase with the money people have given.
