Pictorial Directory: Mark your calendar for St. John's Family Photo event on June 6th-8th. This is in conjunction with our new church directory.
Vacation Bible School: VBS is right around the corner! We are very excited to be offering something different this year - weekend VBS! VBS will be held on Saturday, July 27th from 10:00 am-2:30 pm and Sunday, July 28th from 9:00 am-10:00 am for the wrap-up celebration. We are hoping everyone will stay for 10:00 am service and then we will have a pot luck cook-out afterward. Not only do we need lots of children to make this event successful, we need adult, middle school and high school volunteers. To register children age 3 (and potty trained) through 5th grade, or to volunteer, please contact Stacy Chisholm at 796-2994 or Kate Nosbisch at 768-8129.
Used Book Sale: Gently-used books are in need of a home in the parish hall. Proceeds from this month's book sales will go to Martha's Pantry.
Men's Bible Study: Group meets the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month at 8:00 am in the parish hall for breakfast and lively discussion. All men of the church are invited to attend. If you would like to be on the email list or wish to have more information, contact Guy Smith at 748-6216 or cguygo@verizon.net.
Bingo Prizes Needed : We are in need of prizes to give out to our friends at Lucy Corr during games of Bingo. Appropriate prizes include sugar-free cookies (no hard candy), socks, lap blankets, large print books, puzzles, or word-search books, boxes of tissues, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, small stuffed animals. If you can provide any of these prizes, please bring them to the church office.
Birthday Box: The Birthday Box is back! Actually, it never went away. It is probably Outreach’s oldest project first started over 20 years ago. But recently, it has languished, lonely and forgotten, in the back of the nave waiting for kind people to feed it in celebration of the gift of another year of God’s blessings. The Outreach Committee wants to revive the Birthday Box custom and have chosen a new charity to support with the birthday donations. Each quarter Outreach will select an animal gift from Heifer International to purchase with the money birthday people have given.
Martha's Pantry: As you do your grocery shopping, please pick up a few extra items for Martha’s Pantry. Supplies at the pantry are low and all types of food are needed. Canned meats and fish, pasta meals, soups, and cereals are particularly appreciated. Recently Martha’s Pantry has experienced an increase in requests--perhaps because the Dinwiddie food pantry has closed. Your food donations will be greatly appreciated. Donation boxes are located in the narthex and outside the church office.
